Blog Swap – Morning Routine

Happy Monday Friends!

I am so excited for this particular post because I am collaborating with one of my favorite bloggers and friends Hannah from LoubsandLips. She always has the best make-up reviews and beauty posts. You should totally check out her blog because I promise you will love it.

We are taking over each other’s blogs today and sharing our Morning Routines. It is always fun learning about other people’s daily routines and how we each have different responsibilities and schedules. I know mine is a little hectic with a house full of crazies so I am sharing mine over on her blog.

So without further hesitation, let me hand over the blog to the fabulous Hannah.

I’ve never been a morning person and no matter how long I sleep or how hard I try, I just can’t do it. I will never be one of those people who hops out of bed ready to face the day. The day will be there when I get up at 10. However, I do have a job that requires me to be there at 8 am so I have to get up and get going.
1
I have to set 3 alarms starting at 6:15 to ensure that I am up by 7. Kudos to all your one alarm people, I don’t know how you do it. After I turn my alarm off, I say good morning to Windsor who doesn’t acknowledge my existence because he’s still sleeping. I fumble in the dark and find my remote and turn on the Today show. Having Matt Lauer and Willie Geist to look at makes mornings a little more bearable.
2
My apartment has 2 vanities so I have my hair stuff at one and my makeup and skincare at the other. I turn my straightener on and while that heats up, I wash my face, apply my serum, and put my contacts in. I do my hair and makeup simultaneously. I’ll do a few steps of my makeup routine, straighten a section of hair, back to makeup, back to hair, etc. till the transformation is complete.
3
I try to choose my outfit and jewelry the night before and have it ready to go. I move it to this little blank section in my closet and put my shoes on top of a shelving unit in my closet. I save myself so much time when I do this. After I get dressed, I pick my lipstick for the day and put on my jewelry.
4
I make sure Windsor has food and water and raise the blinds for him. He must be able to see out at all times. I grab my purse, my work bag, sunnies, and keys and I’m out the door. Before I leave I always tells Windsor, “Bye angel face, be a good boy, I’ll see you this afternoon. Love you!” because I am a crazy dog lady and I hate leaving him every morning. Then, I open the door to enter the outside world and immediately wish I was back in bed.
I have had so much fun sharing my routine with you guys and look forward to meeting some new bloggers.

What do your Monday mornings look like? Do you have a routine similar to mine?

  • Love this!! I’m right there with you! I have 4 alarms set! I cannot ever get out of bed in the morning!

  • YEP! I have 4 alarms too. One to wake me up, the second one in 15 minutes when I ACTUALLY should get up, the third about a half an hour later that’s the “THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY GET READY AND TO WORK ON TIME.” And the fourth is 15 minutes later which is the “you better be putting your shoes on and have your lunch by the door” alarm. 🙂

Granted, the cat doesn’t even let me sleep till the second alarm most days. He demands food.

    • Yes to all of the alarms! It is so hard to get out of the warm bed and then its just a cluster getting ready 🙂

  • I have 2 alarms…used to have 4 too. Haha! I seriously wish I could get my face on so much faster. I could sleep an extra 45 minutes if I did. LOL! But I’m not a morning person and take my time doing everything. It doesn’t help that I do my makeup in bed while watching TV or YouTube videos…I guess it’s kind of my “me time.”
I hate, hate leaving my fur baby behind. It breaks my heart! I make sure he has plenty of water and has been feed, I pull the backdoor blinds up so he can see out too, I make sure all of his beds are at his favorite spots, I leave 3-4 toys out for him, and fill his little snack puzzle with treats. I’m crazy, I know it! LOL!

Love that you two did this! Following your blog, Brittany!

    • Lol – yes I totally agree about the dogs! I leave the blinds open for them but if we left them out all day we would come home to a complete disaster!! Thanks for the follow I look forward to reading your blog 🙂

    • I used to live in a second floor apartment and he would come to the window and watch me leave every day and have the saddest look on his face. Thank goodness I didn’t stay there too long because it was so hard not to run back upstairs and say “forget work!” I still hate leaving him, but I least I don’t have him stare at me so sad.

      • Lol – before we got the lab Houli could roam free around the house and he would do his own thing. Since they are both males, they start “marking their territories” so that’s when they had to get kenneled. Thankfully they weren’t too opposed to it because I felt terrible… 🙂

        • If I had 2 male dogs, I would probably have to do it too. When Windsor and my sister’s dog are together, it’s a contest to see who can mark the most. I totally understand!

  • I had so much fun doing this! Thanks again for the idea 🙂

  • Good post! 🙂

  • Loved this post! Windsor is so adorable! 🙂 I need to get better at setting out my outfit the night before- it would save so much time! 🙂

  • I love these posts, girls! These are such cute pics! I like having the TV on while getting ready too, it’s nice company + helps wake me up. I was on a Gilmore Girls kick for a while. Love that we have the same bed spread! haha:)

  • We always tell our dog “be a good boy! We’ll be home soon. Love you” as we walk out the door. So no judgement here, ha!

  • Great idea !
