Dont worry…. We are fine down here! Just trying not to float away but good news.. its FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and how could I forget its #NationalDonutDay

What a great way to tie in donuts with Fitness Friday! I am talking about a topic that I have been really thinking about lately. It could be the donuts or it could be age but it has been creeping up on me.

Ok Cellulite, its all something we have…and its all something we want to get rid of ASAP! Cellulite can be embarrassing and prevent us from showing off our legs in the warmer weather, and generally making us feel self conscious! It is something that i have struggled with for years, and only recently have started to notice a drop in my level of cellulite! I don’t know what it is about turning 30 but it seems EVERYTHING changes. I have noticed not only has my metabolism decreased but I am noticing more and more of the “hail damage” on the back of my legs. The word makes me cringe but it is reality. I guess it goes along with my hips not being the same after birthing a child. I will not have my college body back ever lol!! Since my sugar detox, I have noticed a change in the “hail damage” and I know it definitely has something to do with my diet. I’m going to share with you all my tips & tricks on how to see less of your cellulite!!

What is Cellulite

Because of how aggressive “cellulite” might sound to some people when they say it, it is often mistaken for a medical condition of sorts. However, there is nothing inherently unhealthy about having cellulite on your body, in fact, it’s normal for some of us. At its core, cellulite is simply fat that is beneath the skin, which causes a bumpy appearance as it pushes up on connective tissues. Although being overweight is not a direct cause of cellulite, losing weight can sometimes help to improve its appearance. Unfortunately, that is not enough for most people to completely remove cellulite as its appearance is largely genetic.

HOW TO GET RID OF CELLULITE

Firstly i want to emphasize that there is no “quick fix” that you are going to have to work and work damn hard to get results….but it IS possible!

1. Eat a clean, alkaline, unprocessed diet
In order to remove the toxins from your body, you must first draw them out from where they have accumulated in your cells, tissues and organs. The way to do this is to consume alkaline forming foods (meaning they leave an alkaline ash in the body). All fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline and should make up the largest part of your diet. You might be thinking “can fresh fruits and vegetables really help me to reduce my cellulite?” Yes, they can! This is how it works: the alkalinity of these fresh, life force rich foods magnetizes to the acidic toxic matter in your cells, drawing it out so it can be removed from your body. The key is to gradually increase your fresh produce consumption (mostly vegetables) so that you don’t magnetize out more toxicity than the body can remove. Otherwise the toxins will just re-circulate and then re-settle. Baby steps and transition is vital, as is getting in tune with your own body and its signals so you know when to include more or when you are drawing out more toxicity than your body can handle. If you want to flood your body with alkalinity and minimize cellulite (and ageing and other symptoms) get into fresh vegetable juicing.

2.WORKOUT!

YES you WILL need to workout! Lowering your body fat% takes a lot of hard work and effort. (Remember men will always have less body fat then women, its just genetics. DAMN THEM!) But by starting and maintaining a regular routine, you will not only notice a drop in your cellulite, but you will lose weight, tone up, become stronger and fitter, have more energy and lead a happier healthier life! Try and focus of movements that get the blood flowing into those hard to reach areas- This will also give you amazing legs and butt!! Things like squats, lunges, bear crawls, deadlifts, skipping, rowing, running, leg raises, leg circle etc are fantastic!!

3. Hydrate and flush
You need to drink enough pure, clean water and organic hydration from fresh fruits and vegetables to keep toxins flushing through you. Water is essential to life and it is also essential to reducing and preventing further cellulite. Just think about the effects/look of dehydration: shrivelled, lumpy, aged. This doesn’t make a cellulite free body with smooth, supple skin. Drink pure water every day as the first thing you consume. If you don’t like your water straight up, some lemon juice or lemon slices. Herbal tea is also great. As an avid coffee/tea drinker, I try to drink one cup a day versus 3-4 and drink extra water to help counter their dehydrating effects and acidity. Again, fresh vegetable juice is king.

4. Coffee for Cellulite – On Your Body, Not In Your Mouth.

Coffee in your mouth could be a cellulite culprit, but coffee on your body is definitely a cellulite buster. Doesn’t seem fair, does it? Let’s pretend I didn’t say anything about how drinking coffee could cause cellulite, mkay? Because never, ever, no never would I ask you to give up your coffee. However, here are two things you can do with it that don’t involve drinking.

  • Turn the Coffee into a Shower Scrub: After you’ve made your morning pot, place the grinds in a bowl and cover them with olive oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil (or any kind of oil you’d like, really … just try to stick to cold-pressed and avoid ANYTHING that’s partially-hydrogenated). Stir the mixture and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the coffee time to infuse into the oil. In the shower, scrub your body with this mixture, focusing on the tricky dimply parts. Rinse well.
  • Kick Your Lotion Up a Notch with Coffee: Take some dry coffee grounds and toss them back into the grinder or food processor. Let them grind into a fine powder. Add this powder to your favorite lotion and apply to troublesome areas. This is best used at night or anytime you’re going to be home for a good block of time. Otherwise, the coffee might show on the fancy little white dress you chose to wear for date night. You’re so hot.

I am a big believer in “You get out what you put in!”

This is definitely part of getting older so there is no certainty that these will totally prevent cellulite but it sure can help. I will still have my Wine Wednesday and occasional beer on the weekends but sticking to a regular exercise routine has helped my body in a lot of ways. But for today, enjoy some donuts!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Do you struggle with cellulite? What are some of your go-to remedies for maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

Have an awesome weekend!! 🙂
