Firstly, let me say that NYX is one of my favorite drugstore makeup brands out there. Their prices are affordable and the quality of their products is just superb and often on par with high-end brands like MAC. I recently purchased the Soft Matte Lip Creams because of the great reviews I kept reading (I prefer matte products because of the staying power and the fact that less shine means fuller-looking lips). Sometimes I tend to forget the products I have and I keep rotating the same ones for a few weeks.

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are not a lipstick or a gloss rather a matte formula. They are more of a lip gloss application but last several hours. They are amazingly soft on the lips. Packaging is simple and user friendly.

Yes! I was so curious, when I first applied this creamy concoction, how long I could go without replying. After breakfast, lunch and some coffee sipping, the color was there and it still looked pretty good!

What it is: Highly pigmented, matte lip cream
What it does: Creates various matte lip looks
How to use: Apply directly to lips, or over lipstick. Apply with lip liner to define outline of lips.

I do have a few of them but these are my favorites at the moment:

Sydney: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, which is a light pink shade great for a romantic look with a flowy summer dress.

Monte Carlo: Describing Monte Carlo as “deep cranberry red” is pretty accurate.  On my lips, it reminds me of rose petals.  It has a similar deep red color with a plush, velvety look.  I feel very retro-glam when wearing it!  It definitely gives a statement lip, but it’s not overly bright.  Plus, it’s matte.

Addis Ababa: is a bright blue based pink which looks almost fuchsia and very flattering against my complexion. One can tone down the intensity by blotting the shade using a tissue paper. Since the formula is creamy, you can always control how much you want on your lips, go easy and get a nice tinted effect.

I do have issues with some lipsticks that fade quickly and do not last all day. I am one to exfoliate my lips in the morning before I apply my makeup. Here are some tips to help keep your lippies lasting all day 🙂

TIPS:
  1. Exfoliate and moisturize your lips prior to application of the product.
  2. Re-moisturize every hour so that your lips will not chap and dry out.
  3. Use a lip brush for precise application.
  4. For hygienic purposes, instead of directly applying the product on your lips or on your cheeks, try scraping out the product first at the back of your hand then apply it to you lips/face with a brush or a cosmetic sponge. Usually multi-tasking makeup like lip tints tend to gather bacteria when we use the applicator on our lips. It’s a big no no to use the same applicator on our face. By using a sponge or brush, this will lessen the chances of bacteria to spread around our face and will also lessen the chances of breakouts.
  5. Instead of pumping the applicator to get some product, try to twirl it around the container. This lessens the chance of bacteria invading the inside part of the tube.

All in all, I simply cannot fault these lip products and would highly recommend them to anyone.

What are some of your favorite matte formulas? Do you use NYX products?
