Fall Family Photo Outfits

It’s the time of year when many families are starting to plan what to wear for family photos. Usually, the intention is to use the photo in a sparkly holiday card mailed out in a couple of months. I love receiving snail mail holiday cards! Each year I spend a little time looking back at old photos of friends and family. Makes my heart happy!

We haven’t scheduled our family photos this year yet but I know these can book up quickly with photographers. The fall foliage is upon us and pretty soon parks, empty fields and holiday backdrops will be everywhere. I can get very indecisive when it comes to dressing/styling myself but then throw a husband and kids into the mix and it can go downhill very fast!

My goal is simple: achieve an overall cohesive family look while not being too matchy-matchy. For me the key is to use neutral and complementing tones, those always photograph better. If you choose to go for a pop of color I would suggest something like burgundy or gold – festive but subtle!
