Trendy Thursday: A Touch of Leather

Happy pre-Friday and even better news is it’s #nationalwineday. So in honor of that I am featuring one of my new obsessions. As we all know, leather is popular in all forms – it’s tough, it’s chic and it gives any outfit a bit of edge. Leather pants can be intimidating (I think) – but there are so many styles available at the moment. Over black friday, I bought some faux wine colored leather pants (other colors available) at H&M but was not sure if they were too much to wear to the office.

I have been loving the leather on leather trend so to keep it simple, I paired them with my Grey Leather Cardigan with leather detail on the sleeves.

When I put on these pants, I felt a little fierce and slightly wanted to walk a catwalk 🙂 I styled this pair with Aldo ankle-length booties and a soft, ivory top. Overall, it’s an easy and wearable look for day or night. I feel like the leather on leather trend will never go out of style. My cardigan is sold out at the moment but I linked similar cardigans with leather details below that are all less than $150.

I want to buy all of them!!!

Grey Leather Cardigan – Macy’s

Drape Front Cardigan – The Limited

Faux Leather Cardigan – Nordstrom

Faux Leather Fringe Cardigan – Neiman Last Call

Black Cardigan Leather Sleeves – ASOS

Here are some other styles and patterns of faux leather pants:

Paneled Faux Leather Pants – Forever 21

Imitation Leather Pants – H&M

High Waisted Liquid Leggings – Charlotte Russe

Jessica Simpson Jogger Pants – Macy’s

BCBG Pleather Leggings – Belk

And Ill take all of these too!!! They are all so fierce and look super comfy. I will be wearing the burgundy leather pants on repeat until summer arrives in Texas. They are so versatile, affordable and spice up any outfit.

What trend are you obsessing over? Do you have leather in your wardrobe?

Hope in a Jar Review

Aside from making some personal and professional goals, one thing I love to do at the beginning of a new year is switch up my beauty routine and try some new products (which also includes tossing out all those products that I never use!) It’s nice to switch up my routine every once in a while and it’s the perfect time to do so! Besides, your skin deserves a little renewing and pampering too, am I right? That’s exactly what I did the beginning of January.
I’m happy to share with you all today the best moisturizer ever… Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar

The moisturizer aims to refine texture and pores, provide all day hydration, and give a healthy color and glow. I have been using it for 2 months now and I have seen an improvement in hydration, firmness and a decrease in fine lines. My texture is really hard to tackle, so I’ll be giving it a little longer before I can totally throw out everything else. As far as hydration, it is perfect for oily or combination skin. It glides on as a lightweight formula, leaving skin smooth and fresh looking. It causes no irritation even when I have breakouts, and after a few days of usage I noticed my complexion had brightened and appeared to be glowing.

The brightening and glowing happens from the affect of the triple blend of alpha-hydroxy acids which gently exfoliates skin. It helps to keep your skin rejuvenated and so far, I’m seeing this which is exactly what I needed!

I captured before – and –  after pictures of my skin within the first two months of using this product. I am showing my all natural and freshly showered side so here is baring it all and seeing every flaw of my face. I was a little iffy about posting these but I was just so impressed with the amazing results of this product! So here is the paleness that is my skin… 🙂

The first pictures show the crows-feet and smile wrinkles.

I have noticed my skin tighter, fresher and the lines and wrinkles diminishing. I have used Arbonne, Nerium and Mary Kay products before but none of them have changed my skin like this. I can actually feel it tightening about 10 minutes after applying and it smells great too. That is a great feeling knowing you paid for a great product!

The second pictures show my forehead wrinkles. (Please excuse my brown roots in the first one, I was long over due for highlights)

I can not get over how tight my forehead is in only 2 months. Who needs botox when you pretty much can buy it in a bottle for a whole lot less 🙂

I purchased my product at Ulta but it is carried at other stores as well. I have linked the locations and prices below:

2 ounce jar

Ulta Renewed Hope in a Jar – $47

Nordstrom Renewed Hope in a Jar  – $52

Sephora Renewed Hope in a Jar – $47

Macys Renewed Hope in a Jar – $47

What are some of your favorite skincare products? Brands? Moisturizers?

What I’m Loving Lately #2

When you wake up and have a 3 day weekend…………………. 🙂

What a week! And we have another loooongg weekend ahead but it will be mostly cleaning, laundry and of course catching up on some running!! But I am thankful for two short weeks in a row.

White Nail Polish

I can not get enough white right now… maybe its the weather. It seriously goes with any and everything and makes your hands pop. I am using OPI Alpine White and it is awesome! There is minimal chipping and it is super shiny!

 Dallas Winter Weather!

I am going to let this picture speak for itself. I do love some good, cold snow days but this is just b-a-n-a-n-a-s!!!!

Valentines Yummy Treat

I made this for our office today! I kept seeing so many different recipes and posts about yummy vday treats and I couldn’t resist! Its a sweet and salty mix which I totally love!

Here are all the ingredients I used:

Berry Kix
Stick Pretzels
Strawberry Goldfish
Mini Marshmallows
Vanilla Chex Mix
chex mix
Trader Joe’s
I have been shopping at Trader Joe’s exclusively for the past two weeks and I have to say…. I had no idea what I was missing out on!!  They offer quality prepared foods at fair prices in an unpretentious and welcoming store.  I am not a huge fan of cooking but they have ready made meals that you can pop in the oven. I am also a fan of being able to microwave a delicious meal in about four minutes flat. I now have a greater appreciation for TJ’s. 🙂
This is one of my new favorite addictions:
 Stairmaster workout
I have recently started incorporating the stairmaster into my workouts at the gym. It is so good for toning the rear and hamstrings and will also give you a reality check into your fitness game. I am literally burning double the calories and sweating a whole lot more with 30 minutes on the stairmaster. This is one of the workouts I have been using and it is KILLER!!!
I am pretty much a dead person when I leave the gym after doing this…. you should totally try it 🙂
What are you loving right now? Any big plans for the long weekend?

Who’s your Valentine?

In lure of Valentines Day, it only fits to do a gushy, mushy love post. Ok, maybe not gushy mushy because I know no one wants to hear those details so more like a “shout out” post. I have seen so many awesome posts about awesome gifts and suggestions on what to get your loved one for Vday but I thought why not brag on my loved one instead. There are many people in my life that I love and could brag about but if I had to choose one person to talk about it would have to be my husband….. 🙂

wedding pic

I cannot believe we’ve almost been married a whole year. We have actually been together 6 years so getting married did not change a whole lot for us but it has made us more connected and become more of a unit. We are building an eternal family together. I have been reflecting on our journey… one that has been filled with joy, challenges, and a great deal of learning! My husband is not perfect, I’m not perfect, and our marriage isn’t perfect, and that is what makes it great because through those difficult times is when your marriage comes out stronger and the joy is greater. It’s like we fall in love more deeply!

For a get-to-know-me type of post, I came up with a list of questions to answer about my valentine. These are just random thoughts and things I reminisced while thinking about our relationship. I would love to hear about that someone special in your life and what makes you happy. The questions can be changed around based on who you would love to write about.. 🙂

What is the most romantic thing your spouse has done for you?

Lets be real for a second, my husband and I are very much alike but also VERY different! I am usually the one that does the gift giving or thoughtful things in our relationship which is totally fine… In the beginning of our relationship he used to literally not get me anything, I was lucky if I got a card. Being an only child, I was a little taken back by this lol – I mean at least SOMETHING dude!! But over the years and many talks, he has actually gotten better about getting me nice things. I would have to say the nicest thing he has done is surprise me with an amazing engagement ring and proposal at Christmas with my entire family present. I would have never thought he would do anything like that around anyone let alone MY entire family. That was a super special day! 🙂 (best part about it is I was in a onesie!!!! lol)

What is your happiest memory that includes your spouse?

Our engagement pictures!!! I had so many ideas and things I wanted to do. I was all over the place trying to make sure everything was perfect and he was  trooper. My photographer made me feel better and more relaxed throughout the sessions because no matter what I knew the pictures were going to turn out great. The best part about the experience was having a powder paint fight!! We also took some pictures that were amazing of just us being us. We are both silly and cant really take serious pictures so our photographer was awesome at capturing us when we were not even looking.

What does your spouse wear that you find sexy?

I think my husband looks awesome anytime of the day but I would have to say he looks great when he is all suited up for a nice occasion. He looked so handsome for our wedding and I have to say…. he cleans up pretty nice.

What is your favorite thing about your spouse?

He can always make me laugh… No matter what is going on Hector literally will make a joke or try to make the best of the situation. Even during times that I don’t feel like smiling or laughing he always cracks a joke and busts a dance move. I dated so many jerks and douche bags in the past and none of them made me laugh or smile like he does….. He is always the “joke-ster” or comedian in the room so I know I am always going to have a good time wherever we go.

What made you fall in love with your spouse?

What a great question to follow…. If we are being completely honest here, the night we met I never thought we would end up where we are today. He was a cool guy but I typically go for the tall, blonde, blue-eyed athletic type… Well Hector is pretty opposite of that but that is not why I married him. 6 years ago, we were literally the clone of each other… crazy, outgoing, funny, silly, dramatic and always down for a good time. Over the years we have definitely changed and grown up (me more than him) but we are still more in love than ever. Hector always knows how to make me laugh and will look at the positive side of things. He is super responsible and the best part is he is a GREAT daddy 🙂

What would your husband want from you for Valentines Day? What are you actually getting him?

He probably doesn’t expect anything from me except maybe a card and a kiss but I am planning to get him a large basket of “man stuff” Tools, beer, socks, underwear, snacks etc. I have done this for him before and he totally loved it. We also agreed that we were going to make each other homemade cards so that will be fun…. or maybe this one will work lol

What are your plans for Valentines Day? I would love to hear about your valentine and why you love them!!

Steal Staple #3 – Gap Sweater

I recently made a trip to the mall for makeup and found one of the most perfect sweaters. Of course I told myself I wasn’t going to look at clothes but when I start telling myself “I will just look…” sometimes the results end with four new bags of clothes. Oops 🙂

I actually didn’t really shop for new winter clothes this year (I do live in Texas) so I wanted to add some new staples to my wardrobe. The Gap was having a winter sale so I went in to browse…. And found the most amazing sweater!!!! I have linked it below:

Women’s Cowlneck Sweater

It literally is long enough to wear with leggings or even knee high boots. Super comfy and cozy, it kept me warm on a 40 degree day. I added a scarf for a pop of color but it came off by the afternoon when it warmed up. I love the grey color as it will go with anything!

I would literally live in this sweater if it were colder here but it has been in the 60s or 70s almost everyday. I kinda cant complain since it has been pretty nice but the struggle is real when you are a sweater lover.

Have you found any awesome steals lately? How is the weather where you live?

Brittany 🙂
